Britannia Tavern
Britannia tavern
Britannia Tavern is seans resting place... It is located close to Kukwang intersection... PM sean for further details (don't expect answers though)...
They do cater for foreigners there but the food quality depends on the mood of the cook... Some days it can be wonderful and some days it is awful, mind you, they do have the best steak in town when she wants to make it good...
It is not very clean in there and if you are a non-smoker I would say that you can smell the old fags far away... The toilet (he has 1 toilet now) is not the cleanest in town but still better than 99... Tables and chairs are not clean but I guess that I can get drunk and a steak there... I won't die...
Sean tends to play loud music, so we can't talk while sitting next to each other- and let us prey you like thai cartoon tv or cricket for that is all he is showing...
He has a weekly Quiz night where loads of the local "falangs" go for some much needed fun...
The not so regular FIGHT NIGHT (when available) is good fun and the big projector comes up... Large fights on the wall... Prices are expensive, but what do we not do for our needy friend...
I felt after I brought my own Vodka bottle (no bottle charge) that I had a cheaper night in Patong... (food/ calzone and loads of sprite)... than at seans place, steak and less sprite...
Each for it's own and it is nice to talk to Sean sometimes... A must if you are in town...

Re: Britannia tavern
Go there fairly often. It has its faults, a lot that could very easily be rectified but for me it's an ok and a pleasant enough place for a beer or two. Sure, if you're new to town or an old hand, it's worth popping in just to see what's going on.
Don't start talking about global warming though!!

Re: Britannia tavern
Yes, Seans place, also known as 'The Milk Pig's Cheese Boots' (amongst many things), is a great place to eat and drink. The beer is cheap, especially during happy hour (4-6pm, I think) and the food is hearty and substantial. I particularly recommend the steak, chilli burger and chilli dog.
Make sure you bring small money, though. 1000 and 500 bills won't do you too much good unless you want to leave a hefty tip.

Today is Wednesday, I finish just after 4pm, Britannia opens then .... a few beers in order.
Re: Britannia tavern
I am sure that a man with some willpower can easily go to a tavern to drink coke and then leave!!! I assume that you have never done that Admin, judging by the smiley you came with!!

Re: Britannia tavern
After Admin decided that he wanted to meet up at the Tavern I reluctantly thought I should go there too, just to spend some of my hard earned cash at seans place...
What happened when I came there at 1632? It was closed, WTF... Admin left, I left (I was one car behind Admin...
Not very difficult to keep opening times here Sean... You post 1600, BE OPEN AT 1600... Or is it back to the good old style, drop by, we might be open??? Ridicules when you have a set opening time with happy hour...
Come to my place, happy hour (we are closed!)

Yes, not good at all, lost 25% of 'Happy Hour' and spent time driving home, and back again simply because the place can't be opened on time.

Re: Britannia tavern
Read what I say sir,
It is a nice place (when it is open) and it can be very good food there (when the cook is happy) I like talking to Sean (not about global warming)...
Each review is subjective and I can change my mind if I want too!!!
Go there, enjoy yourself, there might be a night there that you will like... Maybe fight night, maybe Quiz night... Maybe a quiet cricket night... Go and explore... Don't take my word for anything... You are "GROWN UP" and you have to make your own decision... Don't blame others, you can chose what to do, where to go, how to do something... Listen to others, sure, but in the end... You have to stand for what you do!!!

Re: Britannia tavern
snowy this is what you said about the place on another topic.. which one is it .. the place is good ?/ or is it bad? come snowy ,, t looks as if you are sitting on the fence and do not know which way to go..
THIS IS WHAT SNOWY SAID BEFORE.
nothing is really good there... Apart from... The steak (if the cook is
happy, the schnitzel (if the cook is happy), fight nights (if you like
that stuff), global warming lectures (if you are dumb enough to ask
Sean)... I am sure you can find something there that you will like...
It is the only western style restaurant in Town if you look away from
all other restaurants...

Re: Britannia tavern
How can you think I am on the fence after that??? I like the place, just that the quality of the steak is not always the same!!! (Depending on several factors)...Gold member wrote:snowy this is what you said about the place on another topic.. which one is it .. the place is good ?/ or is it bad? come snowy ,, t looks as if you are sitting on the fence and do not know which way to go..

Re: Britannia tavern
I can stay at home and get cheaper beer, great steaks, and a good fight with the wife. All thats then missing is the conversation........ but me and the wife can just fart if I really want to listen to a bunch of arseholes.

Re: Britannia tavern
Fair point, but can you sit on a chair next to a long table having several conversations in English at the same time as you worry about kids running around?
I give that (I) food is better when you prepare it at home, but the company and atmosphere might be better if you go to a different place!!!!

Re: Britannia tavern
well, i can travel a much shorter distance and have cheaper beer served with ice and a glass if wanted, snacks on hand, often cooked food available, nice clean western style toilet, and plenty of english chat with other westerners.
Each to their own, just aint my scene.

what can I say bert, I have a choice, it's my choice, just because you do not agree with my own personal preferences, does that make me wrong?
I choose not to line someone elses pockets and damage my health from other peoples smoke, so I do not go there, its that simple.
Clearly if I did go there I would have to share company with the likes of you and huagnu who seem very quick to jump in with the personal insults and foul language........ yet another reason NOT to go there.
As i posted, if you read it properly, it aint my scene. nothing negative about that, it is MY choice. if you don't agree, tough crap!

Re: Britannia tavern
you clearly have a poor grasp on the Englsh language bert.
in my post, you will see that I am referring to the posts made by you AND huagnu..... read the bit in red again.

I did not say soot was foul language,
I quote huagnu
"You really come across as very negative, you know? You can make food AND drink beer at home? Well fukk me senseless!"

Re: Britannia tavern
oh....... and for the record........
I dont watch porn, might be your cup of tea but each to their own.
I do not have a huge tv, have better things to do that veg in front of a tv all day.
My house is nice and confortable for me, and no, it does not smell like soot.
In any case, even if any of the above were true, they'd be to my liking and bollocks to anyone else. After all, my house aint the place trying to attract paying customers is it.
As the original topic was about going to seans place, my oppinions still stand:
Why should I go there to drink his beer, line his pockets, then worry about how i get home (working on the theory that Seasn takes care of his values clients and ensures that nobody drinks and drives), when i can drink beer anywhere.
I do not smoke, as snowy states, seans place is smokey, so why breath in smokers 5hit for the sake of a beer
Cricket bores me
I've never been and fan of, nor understand why people fight, so fight night would not appeal to me
At the end of the day, its just a room where people go to eat and / or drink then come away with a much lighter wallet.
If it's not to my taste, why should i go there?
Do you have any reasons why i should go there?
There is nothing negative about having and expressing a different taste or oppinion to others. I thought thats what a forum was for...... a place to speak openly.
Out of interest, bert and huagnu, are you by any chance aliases of Sean?

Re: Britannia tavern
While we're on the subject of stinkin' cigarettes, What happens to all the cigarette butts that get thrown onto the road by the environmentally conscious smokers that hang out at Sean's?
Guest- Guest
Re: Britannia tavern
Answer: They get washed away by all the environmentally conscious drinkers taking a slash in the street cos the 1 toilet is in use already.
