I here what you are saying there Snowfluke .... one thing in my limited experience I have found is that the farangs have a very limited knowledge of 'classifiers'.

Animals are 'tor'
Glasses are 'gaew'
Bottles are 'kuote'
People 'khun'
Vehicles 'kan'
and then pens, balls, pieces of paper are all totally different words etc etc

Classifier lesson next Mr. Sitapatra (or however you spell it) please?

And, by the way, what is the longest river in North America???

Only another few centuries ansd someone here might understand me. I say to someone something and they don't understand. After 5 minutes of 'argueing' they repeat exactly the same thing and I finally get what i asked for!

"Are you trying to rip me off?" = ...............................

to be honest, i wouldn't ask "are you trying to rip me off" if you truely believe that just smile and say mai pben rai krab, then walk away. But if you want to test them a little you might say "lor len ruh pblow?" = are you joking with me? but do it with a smile.
