snowflake had an accident
driving down to thung song i was unlucky and hit an older gentleman on his bicycle from behind.
As i am typing this he is in surgery and i am sitting in the police station...
The worst is that i had to cancel my class and the license plate holder broke...
I have now joined the club I have taken the piss out off for years... Time to admit i f...d up...
Time for you all to say 'told you so'...
Lets all hope he will recover quickly (but i doubt that)... Old man and all that...

Re: snowflake had an accident
high speed and nail bitting action report from on the scene Snowy.. ..
it is not good that someone has got hurt .... i hope the old boy will be ok.
as for you Snowy .. maybe you have learnt a lesson or two?? but give it a week and you will have forgotten all about it ..but i have heard you are having a bad week of it so far..maybe the other thing was playing on your mind and you were concentrating on your driving .. but now you know it can easily happen and to anyone...

Re: snowflake had an accident
Accidents happen as a few on here can well testify to, including me. In any country where it is not only the locals, but 'visitors' too who seem to leave behind any reality of the driving rules, accidents will happen.
Having said that, how many times have you been going down a road, whether it be a major highway or a small sub-soi and thought to yourself, no, that person won't/can't be that stupid as to do such a brainless act - and they then go on to do exactly that?
I don't know the full details to this one but only hope that the 'older gentleman' is not too seriously injured and that everything gets sorted out amicably with no 'pish' taking by either side.
Drive carefully out there!
Now, that has to be one of the most selfish statements ever made on here. The poor guy is on the operating table and you're more worried about your extra class and a licence holder!! What about his family/life?The worst is that i had to cancel my class and the license plate holder broke...

Re: snowflake had an accident
just as i guessed... Judged before even anyone knows what happened...
I was standing still at an intersection, waiting for green light (it was red and the car was standing still)...
There were several cars on my left and a few motorbikes infront of me... I did not see the bicycle...
Green light came and the bikes went off into the distance... For once in my life i was a bit slow off the line, still i did not see the old man.
2 meters into the intersection i felt something with the car and saw the front of the bike up in the air (pulling a wheelie) and down he went. I was on my brakes and out of the car faster than you can say birdshit...
The man was laying infront of the car but his right shoe was under the car...
I helped the guy up on his feet and got his shoe from under the car, he walked over to the side of the road and sat down.
After 1 min (yes that fast) the ambulance and several brown dressed gentlemen were swarming the place, farang killed a Thai.... (interesting how it happens)...
Few more minutes and the real copper stopped by, took some pictures and my Thai drivers license (get one!)...
I then went down to the hospital where the guy was, he was chilling when i got there but the pain increased alot when he saw me... The doctor told him to stuff it since it was nothing... He might have fractured a bit of his right arm, nothing more... They then took him to surgery (as i was told later to put on a cast, nothing more)...
Later the old guy thanked me and i went off to the police station...l
insurance guy talked, i admitted guilt andthe cop smiled, (sorry sir... No tea money)...
toyota came to inspect my car, not more than 500b fix... The bike and the guy will be taken care of too... I was then kicked out of there...
But
i have to meet with the family at a later stage for something... Insurance guy has to be there too... (negotiating payment???)
Sorry admin if you did not get my joke... Can see it could be interpeted the wrong way...
No Thais have yet tried to screw me over, and i doubt they will...
This was one of those times where i just cant explain what happened, i just didn't see him...
Yes he will be ok, or I would still be down there...
I might be cruel and rude and childish and generally an arsehole but i do stand for what i did and that you can not argue with... (i think)...

Good to hear he wasn't too badly injured. Accidents happen and I also have my fingers crossed that your licence plate holder can be quickly repaired.

Re: snowflake had an accident
you could not see a man on a push bike .. now let me see a man on a bike must be at least 1.5 metres in height and 0.4 metres wide.. how did you not see him? ... he sneaked up in front of you at such a speed that you blinked and hey presto there he was.. mmmmmmm
are you sure you were not being pushy? trying to make him go faster?
joking aside now... i hope you will check the old man is ok?? it will be a shock for him.. getting run down at the traffic lights...but lets hope he did not get a blow to the head ,, as you know this can lead to more serious stuff... hope all turns out okay.. and it ends up only a number plate and a bike that needs to be replaced...
keep you hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road.....

Call me cruel, mean, "jai dam" but I don't want to give anything extra... He did not want anything extra either, last time we spoke... I will ofcourse step up to the plate and do what is responsible but I am not going to throw money out the window when I pay for insurance... Will see how it goes...
