Rice House Apartment and Restaurant
I discovered this place last month with a friend. The restaurant is located opposite 60's bar and they play quiet music with great food. Mostly Thai dishes but they do have the occasional foreign dish there as well.
On the outside they have a nice 42 inch TV where they show EPL matches live.
If you bring your own bottle of whiskey/ Vodka you will only be charged 15B for the soda water/ and I think 20B for a rather large 8L bucket of ice. All in all it is a very cheap place with some decent rooms upstairs. They go for about 4000B a month (not quite sure but I think I remember that amount).
They also have quiet jazz music in the back ground with very friendly staff...

I gotta say, I was surprised when I first saw the place. It looks really nice! Almost like a posh spot in Bangers! However after trying the food, I was seriously let down. For the prices they were charging, 100 - 250B/plate, one would expect a unique twist or special flavor to their food. But it was so average, I'd rate it down with (or lower than) cheap 30B/plate roadside tam-sang. We tried pla duk foo, rad na and something else... 'uninspired' would be a compliment!
How ever the environs were nice and waitress very friendly. Looks like a great place to watch a game of footy and enjoy your tipple of choice ('cuz beer ain't cheap either!).

Gold member, I have no problem paying higher prices for good food. I'm not ok with paying higher prices for very average food.
Sometimes you get less than you pay for.

Fair enough... Maybe I did not dip deep enough into the dishes I had there... But then again, after living here for so long, my expectations are rather low... If I get food that looks like what I wanted I am happy... Sadly after a rather disturbing youth with some torture my tongue does not "taste" food the same as you... Needles to say, I can taste good/bad food, but I might not be as fine tuned as the rest of you... Sorry about that!

Why? we are talking about the food here...
There should be a 2nd post about the rice house in the apartment section... You could have made that post, since you have all the details now, but I guess you are too lazy so I will make it for you...
Now, I have to say that the peanut salad at the rice house is very good!!! and the soda water is very cheap... Cheapest night out if I go there...
