left or right handed?
This is something that I had not noticed until the other day (having been here almost 5 years).
I finally got to do some proper DIY this weekend and descended on HomePro for a new sink and lav. Having fitted my own bathroom in UK, I was keen to take on the Thai plumbing "Standards".
The fitting of the loo was a nightmare, dispite HomePro staff assuring me that ALL toilets in Thailand have a waste pipe located at 30.5cm AS STANDARD.... but thats another story.
The thing that I noticed was the location of the handle for the flush, they were all on the left (facing the loo), whereas, in right handed world we live in, they are on the right in UK (and other countries I've visited)..... to the best of my knowledge that is (haven't really given it much thought till now).
I recall hearing about the "Toilet Hand" (left hand) on the culture course, so I asked the missus if this had anything to do with the location of the flush handles. As per usual, she gave me the "what the hell are you waffling on about now?" look.
Anyone any thoughts / knowledge on this?
Anyway, to save any potential culture problems, I got one with a top mounted button for the flush.
They gave me some funny looks in HomePro as I was trying out some of the loo's though.
"Rich Farang" I heard one of them say. "Not rich", I replied, "but I am a little bit flush this month"
