New fast ferry to Samui/Phangngan
Ferry operator Lomprayah High Speed Catamaran has announced a fastcraft service between Donsak Pier on Suratthani mainland and Samui and between Samui and Koh Phangan. Additionally, there will be direct trips between Koh Phangan and Suratthani.
Nathon Pier will be the point of arrival from Donsak and point of departure for trips to Phangan, according to Kitt Steven Tharaphuti, Samui branch manager of Lomprayah.
Trips to and from Phangan will arrive in and depart from Thong Sala Pier. The Donsak-Nathon route will take only 45 minutes and the Samui-Phangan (Thong Sala Pier) only 30 minutes.
Current ferry services take at least one and a half hours between Donksak and Nathon. The new routes to be serviced will start July 24, the announcement said.
The catamarans to be used for the new routes each have a seating capacity of 380. Kitt Steven said the main goal of this new route is to help both local and foreign tourists who travel between the mainland and the two islands of Samui and Phangan.
It will especially be convenient for tourists who want to travel from the Andaman coast (Phuket, Krabi) to the Gulf of Thailand within one day.
Following is the departure/return-trip timetable of the new routes:
Suratthani – Koh Samui – Koh Phangan: 10 a.m. / 3 p.m.
Koh Samui – Suratthani: 8 a.m. / 1 p.m.
Koh Phangan – Suratthani: 7 a.m. / 12 p.m.
Lomprayah also has ferry services to Koh Tao. It operates three high-speed ferries, namely Pralarn, Namuang and Maenam.
