Mass exodus from Nakhon
There seems to be an unusually large number of peeps leaving Nakhon this year, many old hands included. One school it appears is disproportionally losing many teachers and they are moving on to pastures greener.
Good luck to you all in whatever the future brings.
Don't forget Nakhon while on your travels and don't forget to visit again sometime in the future.

So would anyone of the people leaving tell us why? What made you decide to move?
Were you fired (sure you are going to tell us)... or were you mistreated by your school??? Pls. let us know...

Re: Mass exodus from Nakhon
Thanks for the well wishes, Admin. There are 2 main reasons I'm leaving.
One, I am completely fed up with the steady loss of perks and freedom. The atmosphere in our office has also turned distinctly more sour than it once was.
Two, NST has become an emotional drain for me. It's boring, there is almost a total absence of western entertainment, amenities and attitudes and it's boring me to death. I Thailand and Thai people but I find many NST'ers to be extremely self-centered, inconsiderate and closed-minded. Of course they have a bad reputation in eyes of many Thai people, but I'm beginning to feel the same way.
BTW, "hacking it" has nothing to with it. I've been a long time and I'm just tired of the back-water hick-ville mentality here. Some good ol' western comforts would be nice too.

Hear what you're saying but do you really think it'll be better in the capital? The whole pace of life is speeded up, the sheer number of people, the amount of traffic, the pollution etc etc. Sure, there are all the pubs/bars & restaurants, malls, movies but just how much greener do you think the grass really is?
I've lived in BKK and there's no way I'd move back. Sure, people are different but I'm not sure you know exactly what you're letting yourself in for. Either way, hope it works out for for you.
