Suspected Canadian Drug Dealer arrested in Chonburi.
Early on Saturday Morning, Police Lieutenant Colonel Chayagrit from the Chonburi Provincial Special Investigations Unit conducted a raid on a house located in Soi 6 off the Pratamnuk Road in South Pattaya on the strength of a search warrant 431/2552 issued by the Pattaya Provincial Court. Following intelligence received and close monitoring of the address by undercover Police, the owner of the house and his girlfriend were thought to be running a drug supply operation from the property. Police arrived and detained Mr. Andrew Donald Barber aged 33, a Canadian National along with Khun Anusara aged 24. A search of the house uncovered 4 packets of Cocaine totaling 340g in weight, 78g of dried Marijuana, 136g of Hashish, 60g of Marijuana Seeds, 10 Yabba Tablets, a hand gun with a selection of 245 bullets, 2 weighing scales, 8000 empty drug capsules, 5 passports, 3 bank books and a work permit. Also 1 Million Baht in cash was presented at the press conference held at Pattaya Police Station. This money had allegedly been presented to Police at the house by Mr. Barber who had attempted to clear the case. 10 Million Baht’s worth of assets believed to have been purchased as a result of money gained through their illegal drug supply operation were also seized, including a house and car. The two suspects had been operating for around 3 years according to Police and would supply drugs to tourists. They will now be held on remand pending a court appearance on Monday where they will answer charges of class 1 and class 5 drug dealing offences along with attempting to bribe a Royal Thai Police Officer.

Some people never learn. This region, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Burma, Laos and China have got to have the harshest penalties in the world for drug offences. Kudos to the police for refusing the bribe.

My guess is that the bribe was not high enough, or not even made to the correct person...
I think the police here just had to get rid of a competitor, nothing more...
The harder the time, the better the crime pays...
It is all about the "Benjamins"
