Small and Local Beer Bars
More and more people are now drawn to the local beer bars (Not like the ones in Phuket), to enjoy the cool evening breeze.
There is a new road where most of these are located and they are busy every night. All the Thais around that place are very kind and friendly as there are not too many youngsters with a motorcy there.

I know where you mean but having sat outside a few of them I think there are better places. The dust and noise from the traffic driving past is bad, especially if it has been a hot dry day.
99, To Sit and even Notting Light are better in my opinion.

Re: Small and Local Beer Bars
Admin..I concur....I dropped by Bangkok Bar for the first time last night on the way home from a bite to eat with my good wife and a friend and to be honest some of the traffic passing by was eardrum bursting..especially the morons with their sooped up exhausts strapped to a skateboard. On top of that the directions to the loo were haphazard...I ended up golden showering some 4-walled galvanized iron shack. On my return some scruff merchant arrived on a two-wheeled skateboard with his guitar and to give him credit...I couldn't hear him singing...guitar playing was ok though...Then to top it all off we check binned and the bill duly arrives quoting 430 baht for 3 large Leo's, 2 Spy Classic and 2 buckets of ice....f**k me...90 baht for a large Leo and 20 baht for a bucket of ice!!! Am i right in thinking prices are going UP everywhere despite the recession going on around us???????

So maybe we should make a list over the places we have been too that we deem good and bad, depending on the crowd and prize...
Fusion for Admin will never be good, but for others it might.. .
Anyone fell like starting that thread?

I went to that Noting Lite about a week agon. It was really cool inside but empty. I never worked out why, maybe just the time of month.

Nope, Nothing Lite does not usually have lots of customers, they have moved down to the new inn-street, don't know the name but where all the bars have moved...

I think you are mistaken. Notting Light still there behind Ocean. There is a new place simply called 'Brother' but I'm sure that has nothing to do with Notting Light, which was once upon a time called Brothers2. Brothers1 being a single unit behind the police station, long since gone.

Sorry if I did not make myself clear, I was talking about the people moving down to the "NEW" Street, not the bar!
They = Customers!!!
The bar is still there!!!

I was in Notting Light last night. It's actually a nice place, for sensible people, the kind of place you could take your gran and not feel out of place. I enjoyed it.

Seeing that the two of you would be in the same age group, sure,,, I believe you...
For me, it is a nice place, but they were taking the piss out of me when I ordered a gin and tonic last time...
two G&T's came to about 260B... Give me a break... Not going back there to drink, ever again!!!
