No room at the Inn
Been hunting around for a nice place to house some new teachers and many of the places that are "handy" are saying they are fully booked unless I want to pay per night.
Others want a 1 month security deposit plus 1 month rent up front and minimum stay of 3 months.
Whats going on in town?
Looks like I'll have to start looking further out of my desired area.
Anyone any plans to set up a farang only mansion? could be a good money maker.

Re: No room at the Inn
it all depends on where they or you want them to live ?( what area?)
there is many new places that have opened up and around 3500/4000 per month.. most need a deposit.. but one has to think of transport too..

Re: No room at the Inn
Gold Member, where are these illusive places you speak of?
We've tried every place we can find between HomePro and just past Kukwang, and all the places we can find along Ratchadamnern road as far as the stadium.
Only 1 place said they have rooms but must stay at least 3 months.
Loy Garden now says they have 1 room available, and we managed to talk the owner of RX Villa into a room, but I figure these 2 chaps will want to be in the same location till they get their own transport.
Every place listed on my map, plus a few others have all been visited by me this past week or so and all say FULL.
Even asked at Taksin hotel if they could do a deal on a room if we booked for 1 month, but NO.
I usually taxi new teachers to and from work until they find their feet, so location aint really an issue as long as the rooms are decent and they can eat without too much hassle.
Green place looks very nice, but is being renovated at the moment. RX too looks very nice, but is full. Even the back street out of the way looking places have been tried and are full.
I remember it used to be so easy just to turn up and there was a coice of places to stay..... doesn't seem to be the case anymore.
For now, I've got em a cheap, but comfortable place but they'll have to pay per day, which all adds up. Maybe they should convert the International school into a farang teachers lodge.

Re: No room at the Inn
thanks for the suggestions from those peeps today.
Teeny House and Kerd Nakhon hotel (sorry, I initially read the text as "called Nakhon Hotel" and thought of the dump by the train station) will be added to my maps, sadly, they too were full.
In the end, Nakhon Mansion came to our rescue and allowed us to rent some per night rooms on a monthly rate....... sometimes pays to be a teacher.
It seems like businesses are booking out the rooms for long periods so that its easier when their sales reps drop into town.
Never had this much trouble trying to find rooms in mansions before.
Thanks again for the help from those that helped.
I'm dredding next term!
Gold Memb, theres a bottle of freshly made ginger beer with your name on it (you just need to change your name to "Pepsi").
Mr Black too is welcome to a bottle (if he wishes) for his help.
They'll be ready for the fridge by this Fri / Sat....... maybe I can drop some in at your school as we are still on holiday

Re: No room at the Inn
Teeny House??? Yes, I know where it is ... but is it really a place that 'teachers' should be staying in? Is it not just a knocking shop for the local wairoons?
Re: No room at the Inn
Must admit Admin, I'd never heard of the place until other members of this forum introduced it to me
BTW..... green light now has a bright red roof! future knocking shop perhaps?

Re: No room at the Inn
teeny house is not in that section,, but a good safe place to stay,, the key to the front door is your finger print, also very good decor, plus it is a clean place.
